A The group arrive back at Peleck
B Clatrina will go to Jollwater Bridge to bring Marius Tellman up to speed (if he is there)
C Falcon will give a similar message to Rallink in Lehrbahn
D Taran has gone to Temnel
A The group arrive back at Peleck.
B Clatrina is going to Kirk via Revdolin and dropping off in Jollwater Bridge to check if Marius Tellman is there and to tell him that the Orb is in our possession and that he must travel to Salsorme to meet with Gilla and Rallink at the Farah temple with due haste.
C Falcon has waited for a message to Rallink and sets off with the same message that was sent to Marius to Lehrbahn.
D Taran has gone to Temnel
A Investigations through the wizard
A Those still in Peleck discuss what to do next. The Party are now in possession of a number of obscure items. It is decided to use the favour of the Wizard of Salsorme passed on by Caspar to discover the properties of the gold bats head cane top, the bracelet from Norgraze, Tusula's dagger, Carwyn's knife, the very long quartz tipped wand (or short staff) that Farlas acquired from the Black Circle orc caves near Zeim Falc, the candles that burn with a green flame that Farlas acquired from the bee keepers cottage in Talvarran and the wooden dagger that Taran got from the White dragon.
A Farlas finally meets Mercselm
B Nalin meets Rustbulj and Jarrys
A When Farlas gets to Salsorme the Wizard keeps him waiting for a few days but Farlas eventually gets an audience. Farlas hands over the bag and the Wizard tells him to come back in two weeks.
B Nalin goes to see Rustbulj who fills him in on the general background of recent events in the city. Rustbulj introduces Nalin to a junior priest called Jarrys. Anjelica shows Nalin Maurice's grave and mentions the huge donation from Abubaca.
A Farlas introduces a motion to get paid work of Hulon slaves
B Nalin speaks to Fallon
C Nalin and Farlas see Ub at Questor's
D Politiking with the League
A At Farlas' instigation the issue of recruiting Hulons into the army as paid engineers is debated at the Riparleff. Willan speaks in support. Baccus, a regular speaker on behalf of Hulons, objects on the grounds that creating second class soldier would weaken the army whilst costing the city money. This, as he expected, strengthens the case for recruitment. The motion, and other reforms proposed by Farlas, are adopted. Grilcheese is a bit arsed by it all.
B Nalin goes to see Falon to be brought up to speed on developments in the Dwarfen community. Falon says they would be ideal for overseeing the new Hulon engineers. He goes to see the supervisor of the work gangs and persuades him that Dwarfs would make excelent consultants to the Hulon engineering corps. The supervisor suggests that the two smiths in Willans feifdom of Goltorn would make the best job of fixing his weapon.
C Nalin and Farlas go to see Ub at Questor's. There is a lot of building work going on. There is a huge purple satin and fur marquee in the garden.
D Willan and Farlas make it known that they want to see Modo with a view to discussions on reinstating the post of Archon Ripe (Foreign affairs). Modo turns up and asks Farlas to submit his proposal. Quick negotiatiation results in a high level meeting being set up in order to thrash out what support Farlas could give to the League in return for support (or lack of opposition) to Caspar.
A Khalon accepts a post in the Peleck Peculiars
B Farlas suggests that Cherch go to the borders to get himself killed
C Karrak and Gonjon arrive in Salsorme, having been directed by Marius Tellman
D Abubaca re-establishes a lab in the cellars under the Governor's house
A Nalin has offered Khalon a position in his guard at Pelek which he has accepted.
B Cherch turns up and makes himself known to Farlas. He asks what he should do now, Farlas suggests that men with good fighting men are always at a premium in the border country.
C Karrak Mac Kirt, a traveller, turns up in Lehrbahn. He has been directed by Marius Tellman to find the Party as he has been robbed by Troshan. He wants to get his stuff back and thinks the Party might be the best lead. Gonjon Bren is a mage from Kirk. He is travelling with Karrak as he is looking for a worth cause and has also been directed to the Party by Marius. Luckily they find the group about to leave for Salsorme.
D Abubaca approaches Nalin with a proposition that the secret cellars under the house be resurected as an alchemist laboratory. In return for absolute privacy Abubaca will supply potions for the use of the Party. Nalin is well disposed to this and Ub raises no objections.
A Mercselm presents his report
B Magic items are swapped around the Party
C A proposal to reunite Tarsober and Mangros
A Mercselm summons Farlas and reports the following:
The Wizard is keeping the wooden knife to do more research.
Farlas retains possession of the green candles and keeps the bat's head.
B In his time in Salsorme Rustbulj has done quite well. There is a reasonable Christian community and Rustbulj has gained standing in the community despite his freaky religeous opinions. Nalin asks the advice of Rustbulj on the most advisable course of action over Carwyn's dagger. Rustbulj says that the dagger must be destroyed and it is given to him for safekeeping. Couron is given Tusula's dagger, which Rustbulj notes is slightly evil, as a replacement. Willan passes over the pendant that he found at Tusula's camp to Rustbulj for careful investigation.
B Isiil Oômé agrees to swap Norgraze's bracelet for Hortense's ring of "Spell storing" on account for a suit of magic armour, if the Party should acquire one. Farlas takes possession of the ring of "Spell storing".
C Farlas suggests that it would be a good idea to reunite Tarsober and Mengros and asks if Nalin will negotiate with Ub and offer to let Dran test the spare greatsword to see if it is comparable. Nalin is authorised to offer the scroll containing the "Permanence" and "Send" spells.
C Ub appears unimpressed by the deal offered by Nalin and muses on some alternatives. Ub suggests that the addition of a favour from the Party might tip the balance, assuming that Dran is prepared to part with Mengros. The "Permancy" must be done to Dran's satisfaction before the exchange takes place. Dran tests the sword against Isiil Oômé with Mengros and seems to think the new greatsword is better. All are in agreement, the deal is struck and the scroll and Mengros are exchanged. Party members have noted Drans reaction and will hold this against the favour.
A The programme for the Goltorn Spring Fayre
B Mercselm assists with the "Permanency" spell
C Dran hands over Mengros
D Where are they now?
A A committee is formed to draft a programme of events for Willan's games in Goltorn. Under the stewardship of Ub the following programme was agreed.
B Farlas goes to see the Wizard to see if he can cast the "Permanency" spell to affect a permanent increase to the "Strength" spell that Farlas casts on Dran. The Wizard points out that he cannot usually do this and he is not certain that the combination will work, but he will have a go. The "Permanency" seems to work and Farlas casts "Strength". Farlas lets it be known that the Party would be well disposed to the idea of doing a task for the Wizard in return for a favour.
C Dran is prepared to exchange swords, so it looks as if the spell has had some effect. He gives Mengros to Nalin and receives Gruston's greatsword in exchange. Mengros is taken to Willan to look after with Tarsober. Tarsober is delighted that the Party has recovered Mengros and hopes that it will be used by a good person in furtherance of the quest.
D REVIEW OF WHO IS WHERE
Late Feb 1589 (21 Feb - Full moon, 7 March - New moon)
A Whenslidayle, Guerin, Ralpere, Iz, Giganticus and Fabius are to leave Lehrbahn for Salsorme
A The group who went to Talserrin are a bit of an embarrasement to Rallink so Whenslidayle and Guerin are going back to Salsorme from Lehrbahn as soon as the weather permits. Rallink sends Ralpere to assist the Party. Iz accompanies them as does Fabius after he has arranged an intemediary to repurchase Obum. Giganticus has heard that a bloke called Dennis puts on a good circus in Salsorme so he tags along as well.
A Entry fees and prizes
A Crowds are gathering for the Goltorn Spring Fayre. The entry fees and prizes have been worked out. A generous supplement by Willan has produced the following lucrative hand outs.
A Willan welcomes everyone to the Goltorn Games
B 6 person tug of war
C Weapon combats
D Cherch almost dies
E Rock toss
F Ferret racing
G Target archery
H Herra follows Tarris
I Hoho Hairfoot XVI volunteers to write a record of the Party's adventures
A Willan welcomes everyone to the Goltorn Games and there is a massive banquet. There is even a fairly good buffet provided for the poor folk.
B Competition gets under way with the six person tug of war. [This is recorded on a separate sheet - Ed]
C The open weapon competitions get under way. There are separate entries for axe, mace, sword and mixed. "Mixed" is code for "big"! [These are recorded on spearate sheets - Ed]
D In the mixed weapon combat Cherch is very seriously injured and close to death. A consultation of Farah clerics develops. They are concerned that any action will kill him. Healing is unsuccessful, luckily Guerin has a healing potion which is quickly poored down Cherches throat. He comes round and is in severe pain. A dispute develops between Lesera and Calhassan which results in Cherches leg being completely healed by Calhassan after Lesera has bogged up. If Cherch had not had the healing potion first he would certainly have died. There is a frosty atmosphere between them. Although Cherch is now cured he is still very indesposed and will require some days complete rest to get back to anything like normal. His dexterity will be permanently impared.
E The rock toss gets under way next. This is a new competition that attracts a large local entry. The competition is livened up for spectators by a regular stream of rocks going in all direstions. Lejak managed to get one throw 27 feet in front of him whilst another went 32 feet backwards and to his left!
E In the end a local man, Jev McCaips, edged ahead of a strong Party challenge led by Woden and Brutzch. [This is recorded on a separate sheet - Ed]
F The ferret racing proves popular with the locals. A variety of ferrets, stoats and weasels are entered. No one is too worried about the breed of animal. Masses of bets change hands.
F RESULT - FERRET RACING
G The target archery is a handicap competition with the long bowmen stand further away. Ten arrows are totalled. Tarris McThun from Chaltim Beryl in Van Connel stands out and ties for first place with a local man. The local wins the shoot off. Both are invited into the elite archery
H Herra is asked by Willan to follow Tarris and report on his movements. Tarris spends most of the evening drinking with Isiil Oômé.
I Hoho Hairfoot invites Farlas for a light meal and proposes that he should write the history of the Party for posterity. Hoho will collect a series of biographies that could then be cross referenced into a greater story of the Party.
I Farlas asks the primary Party members for their opinion on Hoho's proposal. Some are not sure of the value however Farlas is sure that a written record will provide a valuable reference document and persuades everyone to go along with it, provided Hoho swears on Tarsober. This is arranged for tomorrow.
A Twelve man tug of war
B Brawling
C Sprinting
D Cross country
E Spear throwing
F Open weapon competitions
G Valronin is an enormous tosser
H Evening events, Gonjon, Hoho and Varsity swear on the sword
A The 12 man tug ofwar is regarded as a fun event and there was much merriment over the entry of eleven dwarfs and Sharell. The Party team overcame a greasy rope to get through to the semi's but, with a normal rope, were unable to progress. [This is recorded on a separate sheet - Ed]
B Grim, Whenslidayle, Giganticus, Brutzch, Guerin, 2 of Illonsor Tug of war team, Gunnar, Baccus and Juleau enter the brawling. [This is recorded on a separate sheet - Ed]
C Woden, Juleau and Herra got through the sprint heats, although none of them won their heat and Herra would not have qualified if he had been in any other heat. Juleau got off to a good start in the final and managed to hang on for third place. [This is recorded on a separate sheet - Ed]
D Grayam surprised everyone with a stunning front run in the two mile cross country event. Unfortunately he ran out of steam at the line and was literally pipped at the post by a very competent local runner who had been tracking Graham for the last mile. [This is recorded on a separate sheet - Ed]
E Gunnar, Sharell and Giganticus enter the spear throwing but none are very good. Only Gunnar gets a respectable throw but it is way behind the top three. [This is recorded on a separate sheet - Ed]
F Further rounds of the open weapon competitions are held. [These recorded on separate sheets - Ed]
G The caber toss, another relative novelty, proves unexpectedly dangerous. The spectators have to avoid many trunks falling in unexpected places. Grim and a competitor from Illonsor manage to injure themselves. Isiil Oômé is in second place behind Jev McCaips for most of the competition. However after sussing out the technique in the first two rounds Valronin proves to be an enormous tosser and secures first place by tossing almost twice as far as any throw except the second place toss, also in the last round by a local who had been getting steadily better throughout the competition. [This is recorded on a separate sheet - Ed]
H Grim and Gunnar retire to the beer tent.
H In the evening Gonjon, Hoho and Varsity swear on the sword to serve the quest. Tales are told and Hoho and Varsity start scribing. Herra continues to follow Tarris.
A The hunt departs
B Arm wrestling
C The crowd are unhappy with some of the performances
D The guy formerly known as the White Dragon of Hansol is seen
E Boxing
F Politicing at the hunt, the situation in Tamtiris
G Pig Catching
H The "Victims of the Hunt" barbie
A The posh gits set off on the hunt. The significant attendees include Earpolin, Tanilcor and his son Demel Garrik, Demel Cheis (Lord of Corton to the south, borders Farlas and Isiil Oômé to the west), a couple of knights, Faranil MacGlynne (Steward of Gless - a theigndom to the north) and a gaggle of wives and relatives. Party members are Couron, Lyn Farrin, Willan, Farlas, Sharell, Isiil Oômé, H'Spir Salit tyr Essini.
A The noble hunters ride of towards the forest
B Grim, Grayam, Whenslidayle, Juleau, Gunnar and Brutzch enter the arm wrestling along with six of the Illonsor tug of war team and 20 Locals. Fortunately for Grim it was his non-wrestling arm that was injured in yesterdays combats. [This is recorded on a separate sheet - Ed]
C There is muttering amongst the crowd as a result of some unexpected results (not only in the arm wrestling). Kneebone has a check around and reports back that there seems to be no ringleader but some betting groups are moaning about the results.
C Nalin asks Guerin to keep a particular eye out for anyone that may have had dealings with the Party in the past. Taran is asked to keep an eye out as well, although he has seen no one significant so far.
D Taran reports that he thinks he caught a glimps of the guy who used to be the white dragon!
E The early rounds of the boxing are staged. Party entrants do not do very well, only Bhurt gets through the first round of bouts. In the lightweight category Bhurt wins his first bout 2-1 in rounds. Lejak looses a very scrappy fight 0-3 and Giganticus also looses his first bout, 1-2. Bhurt looses his second bout by knockout in 3rd round when he was already 0-2 behind. In the middleweight division Jorkim looses by a knockout in the 3rd round (0-2 down) of the first bout and heavyweight Brutzch narrowly looses a poor bout 1-2. The boxing is eventually won by two "professionals" and a local.
F During the hunt Farlas discusses the wardenship of Tamtiris with Tanilcor. Tanilcor is the Theign of Tamtiris but cannot go there at the moment as it is under Connel's control. Tanilcor is hopeful that Farlas can help to undermine Connel's hold on the town. Connel does not control the surrounding countryside and Tamtiris does not have a history as a city state, so the area is existing in a historically anomalous situation at the moment. The town has been under Connel's control for a couple of years and it is not exessively garrisoned. Connel's chap in Tamtiris is Phaskyn Tyr Lodril. Farlas realises that perhaps he should have been planning action against Tamtiris.
F Farlas suggests that it would be a good idea to campaign against Tamtiris at the end of this years campaigning season. Isiil Oômé suggests that if we obtain detailed information of the layout of Tamtiris we could mount a surprise attack on the town at short notice using excess troops from Salsorme. However Tanilcor did point out that a Salsorme type event is unlikely to work as the town is not a city state and has no history of democracy, so a popular rising would not happen. Discrete feelers will be need to made to the Theign, Salsorme and the League (we need to know if the League is supportive, or how far they will let us go without interfearing and where else they are interested in).
F Earpolin enquires after the Quest. Farlas passes on general background information and asks about sources of ancient texts. Earpolin ruefully points out that anything he has is back in Van Lies so currently indesposed. Farlas mentions Trohsahn's association with Connel and also the Star of the Seven Firmamants. Van Lies is between Meresvale and Van Connel. The overlord of Laosin (that includes Van Lies) is thought to be an enthusiastic supporter of Connel whilst also a Knight of the Golden Falcon.
F Isiil Oômé has a word with Demel Cheis. He is a distant cousin of Tanilcor.
F Sharell and Couron have a bit of competition for the attentions of Earpolin but he is not very responsive. Couron tells Sharell that she has decided to head up to Rimdies to become known at court as this would assist with her advancement.
F H'sper Salit pumps Sharell for information about the Party and tries to get his leg over Couron and a variety of wives and assorted females.
F Isiil Oômé, Farlas, Corton and Lyn Farrin agree to set up a mutual defence force. Lyn Farrin points out to Farlas that Hoho Hairfoot would quite likely be a useful entry point for information about the League. Lyn Farrin is of the opinion that Hoho is quite senior whilst also being fairly autonomous. He is likely to have some influence as well.
G Herra (2,7,9,9) Juleau (9,20,20,32) Brutzch (5,10,13,24) Giganticus (9,10,10,14) and Karrak (4,5,8,13) enter the pig catching. Juleau acrobatic bacground come to the fore with both her and Giganticus well at the beginning (as far as anyone could be said to be doing well in the melee of mud and grease!). Giganticus falls away but Juleau gets her pig first, however as she carries her pig out of the combat zone she is attacked and is knocked to the floor, but she somehow holds on to her greasy pig. Juleau manages to get up and gets back with her pig just ahead of Brutzch who takes second place. Brutzch shares his gallon of ale with his tug of war team. Juleau puts a bow on her pig and leads it around on a lead.
H At the Victims of the Hunt barbie in the evening Garrik takes Farlas to one side and mentions that some people local to Skopor and elsewhere have lost their boats on the Nystel Soom. There has been talk of attacks by bandits on livestock in the area. Garrik mentions that some of the members of the Party are noted for their abilities in dealing with problems of this nature.
H Taran speaks to the person who provided the information to Garrik.
H There is much drinking and debauchery at the barbie but Guerin and Taran find nothing more out of the ordinary than this.
A Taran sets off to find out about the raiding near Skopor
B The resolution of the Open Weapon Combats and the Six Man Tug Of War
C Psurlarve turns up
D Wrestling
E Dran is considered best at display jousting!
A Taran sets off to find out about the raiding.
B The Open Weapon Combat and Six Man Tug Of War are fought through to a close. [These are recorded on a separate sheets - Ed]
C Psurlarve turns up. He apologises for missing the first few days of the fair and expresses sadness at missing the hunt. He mentions that there is hunting on the moors of Revsoom, which is a wild and bleak place. He extends an open invitation to hunt there.
D The wrestling is a "professional" competition with a small entry. It is a competition popular with the spectators.
E Farlas, Dran, Garic, Karrak, two knights and Taralyn Sorve Gollin are the six entrants in the display jousting. Dran is considered to be the best jouster much to everyone's astonishment, one of the Knights was the next best.

J The first meeting of DATE
K Brutch and Woden are back from Connel
A Isiil Oômé is the only entrant from the Party in the Distance Archery. H'sper Salit gets through the 100yd shoot with his short bow, Isiil Oômé and 11 locals join him in the 160 yd shoot. H'sper Salit has to withdraw as short bows cannot get that far. Isiil Oômé misses and all but two locals get through. Only two get through the 200yd shoot. A shoot out is held for the 3rd place tape measure! The target moves back to 220yds and both miss. On the second shot a winner is established.
B The Gut Barging is a free for all with hands tied behind backs. Grim, Brutzch and Grayam make it to the latter stages of the competition by planting themselves and letting their opponents bounce off. When less than half a dozen competitors are left standing the tactics change to everyone standing in a circle then ram raiding inwards all at the same time. Eventually just Grim and Brutzch are left and the massive stature of Grim eventually wins through. Grim is very pleased to have won something.
C Grim's fortunes have taken a turn for the better as he also gets to the final of the Arm Wrestling where he looses to a superb local performer Nin Etan. [This is recorded on a separate sheet - Ed]
D In his investigations at the Nystel Soom Taran discovers bits of boat, dead animals and bits of eaten humans. He can see no sign of tracks.
E At the Fair, Strom Mac Paw, an archer, reports the disappearance of a woman friend of his to Guerin. Strom says that he checked her tent when she failed to turn up for a meeting and she was mising, there were signs of a struggle. Guerin gets a discription of the woman from Strom by e-mail. She is slim, tallish with dark hair and looks quite attractive.
F Farlas calls a meeting of the inner sanctum of the Party. It is agreed that Farlas might as well keep the bats head and benefit from the mental enhancements. A message is received from Rustbulj that, amongst other things, informs us that Mecselm has discovered the power of the wooden dagger. He is prepared to offer much for it on the proviso that we are not told what the power actually is. If we insist on being told the power of the knife then the Wizard is not prepared to trade for it.
F Talk about the wooden knife suddenly reminds Willan that he has the wooden headband from the White Dragon adventure in Hansol. Ralpere, Grayam and Nylas are all considered as canditates to become the wielder of Mengros.
G Giganticus is asked if he has firked around in Couron's clothing. Giganticus thinks not, but there has been so much action in the dark over the past few days -.. Giganticus becomes obsequious towards Farlas and offers his support in the liberation of Lies.
G Isiil is helping with enquiries about Couron's attacker whilst also trying to recruit inhabitants to Illonsor. [An attack on Couron has not been noted in the Record - Ed]
H Brutzch, Giganticus, Baccus, Grim, Hoho's oriental bodyguard and Juleau enter the assault course with three Illonsor tuggers. Three locals and Hoho's bodyguard are clearly ahead and Hoho's bodyguard draws away in a mammoth tussle with one of the locals. Hoho's bodyguard just draws ahead to win. [scores 234,219 &148] He bows respectfully to the second placed local and declines to accept any prizes. Everyone else was no better than average or utterly useless [Grim = -188!]
E Guerin speaks to a man who was also looking for the woman, Giana Sig Anlees, who was abducted on Saturday after her arrival on Friday evening. The man, Garreg Mac Egan from Paranis, is eventually convinced that Guerin is official and tells him that the woman was working for his employer in Paranis. Garreg was following her from Sarelolgin because she was transporting a painting purchased at an auction there (for more than ten times it's expected price) and he was ensuring the transportation was trouble free. At Creanlan she unexpectedly left the route and crossed direclty into Ruistor and came to Goltorn. However the woman had no reason to be at the games and was clearly no longer following instructions, but he does not know why she changed her plans as she is a trusted courier with a good reputation. They decide, on balance, that something untoward has occurred.
E Guerin gos to see Strom. He asks if the woman appeared worried or agitated. Strom says that she was friendly but not forthcoming about her reasons for being at the games. She was keen to ensure the security of her belongings.
E Guerin arranges for the tent to be taken down and a thorough, although fruitless, search of the immediate area is made.
I Grayam, Juleau, Valronin (Revdolin strong man), Brutzch, Woden, Thugh and two Illonsor enter the "Northland stone" lifting competition. After three lifts Grayam, Juleau, Valronin, Woden, Thugh and eleven locals are still in. Grayam, Juleau and five locals fail in the next lift. After the fifth stone Woden has bitten the dust. Valronin only just made it and Thugh and three local made it through. A local is the only one to lift the sixth stone so wins outright. On a second attempt another local lifts the stone and so gets second place.
E Guerin reports back to Ub about what he has found out in his investigation about the woman. They speculate on what might have been transported. Guerin asks if Ub can find any information about Herger Mac Nerryn from Saralolgin the deceased former owner of the painting, and old work on a druidic theme.
J At the inaguaral meeting of DATE (Defence Association of Tamtiris and Environs) it is decided that for various reasons Garrik, Psurlarve, Willan and Nalin should also be invited. Taran would also be invited if he were here (which he should be by now). Varsity arranges for appropriate invitations to be issued for a working lunch tomorrow.
E Willan is met by the man previously known as the White Dragon of Hansol who has heard that Willan would like to see him. Willan asks about the headband and other wooden artifacts from the cave. He says that they are druidic in origin and each has its own uses. He does not think that the artifacts need to be kept together.
K Willan reports back to Farlas. Woden and Brutzch are debriefed about their Van Connel trip. Trosahn has left Connelberg. King Connel is probably no longer under the power of Trosahn, if in fact he ever was. King Connel van Hune was the prince elect of Van Tavtos when he combined with the kingdom of Taroncom in 1567. He was married to Queen Celeada of Taroncom. Connel took over Van Lies in 1575 to form Van Connel.
E Woden is unable to shed more than general light on the wooden artifacts or the druidic painting. Woden, wearing his druidic keks, is escorted by Guerin to see Garreg. Garreg is unable to add to what he has already said by it is established that the individual in Paranis is male, old and rich.

H Trivia
I Earpollin mentions pentagrams and Hramin cults
J Developments in the Giana case
A Guerin and Merez from the open competition, Lyn Farrin, Dran, Isiil Oômé, Willan, Tarris, Lian Lyn Falc and Berrek Lyn Falc, both from the display jousting and Garrik are the competitors in the elite sword.
B Sorrell beats Gallan in the Elite Mace. They are the only two competitors.
C Nalin fights Local Ten in the elite axe and looses! Both fighters go for it until Local Ten pounds Nalin's leg and he falls down. Nalin is not happy.
D At the meeting of DATE Lyn Farrin puts forward his radical ideas for a standing militia on the front. The reaction of the local lords is cautious but they are not against Lyn Farrin and Isiil Oômé getting something started with whatever support they can get.
E Taran returns from his investigations with the body of a woman, which is clearly Giana. Taran reports on his activities and that he was attacked by a horrible smelly bipedal monster thing. Giana has been strangled in the last couple of days, the body was moved to the place it was found. Garreg has been seen having an animated conversation with a local man called Anton.
F Earpollin, Tanilcor, Cheis, Psurlarve, Isiil Oômé, H'Spir Salit (using a short bow) and Farlas are the entrants for the elite archery. Cheis (116), and H'Spir Salit (108), Isiil Oômé (98), Farlas (96) and Psurlarve (91) get through to the next round. Isiil Oômé (198), Farlas (176), H'Spir Salit (149) and Corton (126) get through the next next round. Cheis wins the competition (3 arrows - 46), H'Spir Salit with his short bow deos magnificently to come second (2 arrows - 62), Isiil Oômé is third (2 arrows - 44) and Farlas fourth (1 arrow -35).
G Local Ten fights Dran to establish the tournament champion. Local Ten has to withdraw quite quickly because of the damage Nalin inflicted in the axe fight. Dran is tournament champion and takes his time to pick his helmet as both are clearly up to the task and well made and Dran has a skill in smithing himself. In the end he picks the sleek functional helmet made by the Goltorn smith over the heavier more ornate helmet made by the smith from Tamsalit. This is a reverse of last the result of last year.
H Nalin talks to the Goltorn smith and leaves one of his axes for the smith to knock up a quote on.
I Earpollin has a word in the early evening. He has received information from Van Lies that a Hramin cult in Azilhar is using a pentagram symbol and rituals associated with the phases of the moon and follow a long dead prophet called something like Na'hamam Nyea which means "high keeper of the baths".
H During the closing speeches Isiil Oômé makes an appeal for people to come and settle in Illonsor. H'Spir Salit, the drunken womanising priest of Essini, announces that he has been sent to be Isiil Oômé's spiritual advisor.
J The theory about Giana is that she came to the fair as part of a deal done against the interests of her employer in Salsorme. She was either double crossed or something went spontaniously wrong. This does not tie in very well with Garreg's assesment of her history. Ub comes up with a scheme for resolving the issue to everyone's satisfaction without expending much time or effort. However the innocent victims (of this crime at least) may not see it in quite the same light!
J Couron suggests that we send some people to check the area where she went off course, Creanlan about 80-100 miles away. Guerin is volunteered.
J Taran suggests that Garreg and Strom are brought in for questioning (by Ub?) whilst at the same time having their quarters searched. Taran and Willan will go to search the area where the body was found.
J In the evening Herra and Nalin make their way to the inn where Garreg had a room. Herra searches whilst Nalin watches him. They find nothing but it later comes out that Herra was searching with his eyes closed so that he would not be seen! They make an effort to leave the room exactly as they found it.
J They move on to Strom's tent, there is not much in there and certainly nothing of interest to the investigation.
J Meanwhile, Taran talks to Strom. He repeats his original story and has very little to add. He confirms that she seemed a bit distracted, she said that she was playing chaperone. Giana said she was from Paranis. Strom is shocked when Taran tells him that she has been strangled and is willing to give any information he can but points out that he is expected back in Funcorrel (160 miles away). Taran says that Willan will send messages to the appropriate people (his Lord and wife). Strom is allowed to go back to his tent and Herrafollows him.
J Willan interviews Garreg with Ub in attendance. Garreg also repeats his original story. At Creanlam she left the river and diverted overland to Goltorn. On the river she was travelling on the merchant Rehad's boat. When she did not board Rehad's boat one morning Garreg investigated and discovered that she had left overland, however he lost a day or two in Creanlan finding out what had happened. In his investigations Garre did not discover anyone in particular that Giana was associated with. Garreg has never met Giana in person.
J Ub surmises that it was probably a pre-arranged change.
J Garreg admits that he was already aware that Giana was dead, that he does not intend to leave and that he has no need of Willan's hospitality at the moment. Taran excuses himself and arranges for Modo to be found. Modo slightly grudgingly agrees to check out Garreg's room for information on who his employer is.
J Modo reports back that there was nothing significant in the room. He is asked if he will shadow Garreg, specifically keeping an eye out for messages sent. Modo obtains the asistance of Hodo's bodyguard.
J Woden offers to speak to the animals in the area where Giana's body was found. Taran takes Woden to the spot but he can find no noctournal animals with any useful information other than how to hide nuts from big creatures like squirrels.
J Modo gets Hoho's bodyguard Xian to assist him which is just as well because Modo soon thinks he was spotted and leaves Xian to keep and eye on Garreg whilst he goes for a kip. Promising to return at daybreak.
J Garreg leaves the inn and Xian spends some time following him. Garreg is either looking for someone or is following a third party himself, however Xian cannot see which of these options is likely to be the correct interpretation.
A Strom is excluded from the Giana investigation and sent home
B Following Garreg
C Continuing investigations in the Giana case
D Various Party members set off for a various of locations
E And some stay in Goltorn for now
F Taran and a group of the Party return to continue investigating the slimey monster
G Hoho lets rip on the Goltorn library
H DATE troop levies are agreed
I Ub recalls his favour
J Arch villan Kalsett is captured and incarcerated
K No chances are taken guarding misunderstood scribe Kalskett
L Following the people following Garreg
A Herra says that Strom did nothing untowards overnight.
A Willan calls him back and tells him that we do not think he will be able to add anything further to the investigation and so can return to Funcorrel with his companions. Strom is very grateful and mentions that Giana mentioned that she was chaperoning and older women. Strom says that it was a weird thing to say and he has no idea what it means. Willan offers some extra food for the convoy and Strom is sent on his way.
B There is no sign of Modo first thing in the morning.
C Woden and Taran checkout the body spot again, the morning creatures are no more forthcoming. Taran checks for tracks and is confident that Giana was carried out from Goltorn by a single individual, who dumped her body and headed straight back to the fair pallasade. The person must have left (with the body) and returned by climbing over the wall. Nalin's dog can find no sign of a trail.
C Calhassan, as senior Farah cleric, is asked to check Giana's body. He reports that she was strangled by hand having been prevously bashed on the head and so did not struggle much. There were no other apparent clues as to the attacker.
C Willan and Nalin go to see Garreg and Willan asks him what was the subject of the painting. Garreg says that it was a few hundred years old, a depiction of a traditional druidic figure of a woman. He has never seen it himself, and he does not know who the woman was or the name of the paintng. When told about the chaperoning comment mentioned by Strom Garreg points out that she must have had the picture when she arrived and probably was not expecting to part with it. It may be that the deviation was incidental to the painting, or that the painting is magic and affected a hold over her of which she was not aware.
B As Willan and Nalin move out of sight of the inn Modo materialises by Wilans knee. He reports that Garreg went out during the night. Modo assures Willan that he has men on the job still following Garreg.
D Couron leaves for Rimdeis with members of the court. Couron is given advice and instructions.
C Guerin, Lejak and Sharrel set out for Creanlan to investigate Giana.
F Taran, Bazron, Grim, Gonjon, Woden, Brutzch, Jarrys and Herra are going to check out the slimey monster occurances.
G Willan arranges Hoho to look at the local records for information on monsters, druids and "the five". Hoho agrees to work in the mornings and points out that he will soon have to return to Salsorme so will probably not be able to put in more than a total of about ten hours work on this occasion.
C General enquiries are set in motion locally to find any information on Giana.
H The levy of troops for DATE is agreed. Lyn Farrin will coordinate DATE from Revdirin
I Ub tells Farlas, Willan and Nalin that if they are prepared to assist him to achieve a successful resolution to his land dispute concerning Revdolin he will consider the favour owing as a result of the transfer of Mengros as met.
D Ub, Dran and retinue, Baccus, Juleau, Cherch, Jorkim, Bhurt, Brand are going back to Salsorme. Fabius joins this group, he has concernes about a green and black cloth he has from Belidarns farm which is eminating eminations. Fabius has also been to Azilhar.
D Giganticus and H'spar Salit and the Illonsor irregulars set of for Illonsor, Isiil Oômé will follow on horseback tomorrow.
E Belthazar is staying in Goltorn to help in the hospital which contains, amongst many, Ralpere. Calhassan is advising the Farah clerics in the hospital as Modo is not going back to Salsorme yet.
J A message arrives with Willan that Karrak thinks he has captured an accolyte of Troshan. All other activities stop and EVERYONE makes a b-line for Karrak's tent. Karrak says that he is after Troshan because she stole a variety of magic items from him. The chap he has detained has been following him for a day and Karrak assumed that he was one of Troshan's accolytes. Karrak says that the guy has magical abilities, he is currently asleep and trussed up on the floor.
J The guy was wearing a ring, Willan takes it off. He is gagged and removed to the castle. On the way he comes round. He is deposited in an unplesant place in the residence (the wine cellar) and Willan starts to interogate him. He is scared shitless and says that his name is Kalskett nem Merres, he is a freelance scribe. He claims to know nothing about Karrak. He does not seem to be holding back any information, he says where his tent is. Modo is asked to go and check it out.
J The detained ring is clearly magical, although not Kalsket's ring of protection. Kalskett gives a list of his recent employers, the most recent of which was in Fundean. Karrak repeats that Kalskett has been following him for a day however Kalskett is adamant that he has no idea who Karrak is. Modo strolls in tossing a knife which Kalskett clearly recognises. Modo asks him what he really does but he says he gets work where he can. Isiil Oômé says that more evidence is required to suggest that Kalskett is an accolyte of Troshan. Modo says "Like this" and produces a spell book. He hands the spell book over to Willan as evidence.
J Farlas leaves with the spell book.
J Farlas returns chuckling and says "I think we should cut the bullshit". It turns out that the spell book has a bundle of powerful spells, some of dubious nature. Kalskett is gagged, untied and stripped, he is given a sack to wear and tied up again. The gag is removed and he is asked if he has anything else he wants to say. He says "I want to go home". He is very pathetic and although he claims it is his spell book he does not seem to realise the implications of what he is saying.
J Kalskett says that he arrived at the games at coffee time on Wednesday having travelled from Fundean. He is intending to go on to Rimdeis.
J Nalin asks him in Westron who he really is. He replies, in Westron, that his name is Izcalscyt Hami (this is Kalskett in Westron, more or less). Isiil Oômé asks him when he last saw Troshan, he asks who we mean but is not totally convincing, nor totally unconvincing. There is a credibility gap between the content of his spell book and his stated occupation.
K A Willan minion will be dispatched to recall Giganticus from the journey to Illonsor. Giganticus should be able to appear to be Kalskett. A man at arms, Nalin his dog and later Willan and Isiil Oômé will guard stay the cellar room with the prisoner.
F Taran, Bazron, Grim, Gonjon, Woden, Brutzch, Jarrys and Herra arrive in the viscinity of the slimey monster attack. After transport is arranged across the river the attack zone is checked and Taran says that the monster has not returned since it attacked him. The group spread out and search for tracks. Some tracks are found of two legged monsters that are not the one that attacked Taran. The tracks go in to the river.
F It is getting late so camp is struck. Woden speaks to the animals who tell him that there are strange creatures coming out of the river attacking and eating animals including humans. Woden tells the anmals that we are here to get rid of the creatures and asks if they could let us know if they see them. A watch is set.
L Not long after the interrogation of Kalskett Modo returns to report that Garreg had been followed by another team of followers all day. Willan suggests that Modo tell Garreg if and when he returns to the inn. When Modo tells him Garreg says that he knows and they agree that the Modo team will follow the followers to see what they can find out.
A Anton gets the point
B Garreg is questioned
C The Goltornd Census
D The slimey monster group search the river banks
E Modo and Hoho continue their searching
A Another body is found in the pallisade area. He is a man in his 20's who has been knifed to death. He is Anton, the man who was seen arguing with Garreg.
B Garreg is brought over for a chat. He claims he does not know who Anton is. We tell him that Anton is now deceased and Garreg says that he was a local youngster who claimed to have information about who might be interested about the stolen painting. It was a false lead, he had no real information to impart. He had some druidic connections and knew something about the type of art and was surprised about the price paid. He speculated that 2,000 crowns was the price because it was older than was suspected. However the rest of us think that it is because it is the key to something.
B We ask Garreg why a gang of people would still be following him if the picture has already been secured.
B Garreg asks that if someone is searching his room again could they at least leave it tidy this time. Garreg is taken to look at Kalskett but does not recognise him.
B Modo reports back that if there is anything significant in Garreg's room it is very professionally hidden. Modo is asked if he put the room back to rights this time. Modo said that they did their best in the dark last time but that Garreg is clearly a top drawer secret agent.
C There are only a few non-locals left in town. A census is carried out. There are three merchants, five games participants and the contents of the hospital. All other people are local workers.
C All people in the locale appear to be who they claim to be.
C Out of town Merchants, Ishtar and asistant dealing in tools, Cattell with two assistants and Goran and two assistants both deal in seeds and produce. The five games leftovers are Raskin, Hessek, Ur, Sedasan and Mertok. There are some injured people in the hospital. Hessek and Ur are waiting for injured people to recover in hospital.
D At the river a search is made for new tracks but there are none. Woden asks if Taran wants to search in the river. Herra chucks a rock in the river. Grim thinks that taunting the enemy is a splendid idea and hurls a rock in to the river. Taran tells them to pack it in. The group moves along the river bank for about a mile upstream, keeping an eye out for small water creatures on the way. Some old bipedal creature tracks are found but nothing new.
D Nothing was found in the next mile so the group turns round to the starting point and search down stream for four miles. The group turns back upstream to return to a point where tracks were seen to set up a decoy camp with traps and animal informants. The group set up a watch from some trees about a quarter of a mile away.
E Later in the day Modo reports back that his investigation team were unable to identify anyone of significance to the Garreg investigation. Garreg is not being followed today.
E Hoho is asked to focus his research on druids tomorrow morning, as they are thought to be the key.
A During the night the slimey monster group fight some slimey monsters
B In the morning the search for lairs is continued
C The misunderstood scribe, Kalskett, is released even though most think he is an arch villan
D Searching - for druids mostly
A After midnight Grim thinks there was movement at the decoy camp. Everyone is woken and Taran and Woden take point whilst the rest follow. Woden thinks there is movement in the fake campsite and between the campsite and the river. Once it is pointed out to him Bazron can confirm that there is movement at both of these places.
A The group move cautiously towards the bogus camp to a distance of about 300 yards. Bazron moves closer as he can see in the dark. He can't make anything out but he can hear agitated non-human voices.
A Bazron moves in much closer until he can see two tall creatures struggling in the campsite. There is also movement off towards the river. Bazron sees one creature pick up another before making a noise and being spotted. The creature immediately puts down the one it is carrying and chases after Bazron. Bazron bolts in the direction of the rest of the group.
A The creature catches up with Bazron and attacks him. The group can hear this and Grim and Taran waste no time in charging forwards. The rest are a little more circumspect and light torches.
A Taran can see two creatures beyond the one fighting Bazron. One creature appears to be struggling and the other is moving towards it. Taran takes on the latter and is thoroughly speared for his troubles. Grim arrives but he is been so engrossed in taunting and threats that he fails to check his speed, overruns the targets and has to double back once he has slowed for the turn!
A Taran is not fighting one of the big creatures, this one is much larger. Taran discovers that size does indeeed relate to ferocity of attack! The rest of the group arrive with the torches and Brutzch sidles off. Bazron is enjoying his first two handed combat for years. Herra gets in a couple of very good hits with a sling shot.
A The very big creature makes a break for it and Grim and Taran chase after it. Bazron continues to fight the ordinarily big creature whilst the rest wilf around the combats helping as they can. Grim amazingly manages to keep pace with the very big creature and grapples it after somewhat cassually tossing the Judge to the floor. The creature twists its ankle and falls to the floor. Grim pounds it in the face.
A The creature fighting Bazron also makes a break for it. Herra slings at the snared creature on the ground, but misses. Woden "entangles" the creature fleeing from Bazron. Brutzch sorints in to the area of entanglement and engages the creature. Bazron unslings his crossbow, just for the hell of it. [He has two hands and can use it again - Ed] Brutzch calls on the creature to surrender then stabs it.
A The very big, one could say huge, creature breaks out from Grim's grapple and spears him. It runs off towards the river but is limping and sprayind blood everywhere. Bazron is trying to subdue the snared creature which bites him, whilst Herra tries to kill it.
A The huge creature lunges in to the river with Taran and Grim in hot pursuit. The huge creature gets under the water and Taran and Grim cannot see it in the dark. Taran lights a tourch but there is no sign of it. It had been facing up river when it submerged. Grim goes back to look for his hammer, which is quickly found.
A Brutzch becomes entangled during his distruction of the creature and shouts for help. Taran and Grim jog towards Wodens torch. When the "entangle" wears off the creature runs off with Woden in pursuit. Gonjon tries to intercept but the creature makes it to the river.
A Bazron and Herra are trying to knock the snared creature unconcious. Herra hits it again after it falls unconcious and kills it. A search of the body reveals nothing and Bazron chops the dead creatures head off. The dead creature is some kind of water troll, it is decided to burn it in case it regenerates.
A Kip is had and watches are set.
B About mid morning everyone gets up. The tracks that the creatures made during the night match those spotted on the river bank yesterday. The group set off up river. The huge creature is quickly found floating in the river stone dead. Herra realises that it is a water ogre.
B Grim spots its spear lodged in the bank, he dismisses it as an edged weapon and is going to chuck it in the river. However in the end he gives it to Taran. The spear is similar to a naginata, and there is a harness made from water resistant snakeskin leather. Bazron chops off the ogres weapon [? - Ed].
B The group continues searching for lairs
but find nothing on this side of the river. At Gonjon's suggestion the group find a boat and search the other bank. It does not take long to find a boggy area to the north of Willan's lands with a lair that is obviously uninhabited. Despite Taran's reservations Herra searches the lair. Taran is hovering arounf Herra and when Herra shows a purse that he found Taran tries to grab it. A scuffle ensues and Taran eventually gains control of the purse. There is some money in it and the purse has a mark of ownership. Woden finds an animal that tells him that many (probably three) creatures were there last night, and they have been there for many, but not all, nights recently.
B The group search southwards but find nothing significant.
C At the games the Party cogitate on the fate of Kalskett. It decided to release him, but his spell book will be held pending the production of proof of ownership. Kalskett lists some people who can vouch for him and is able to list almost all the spells in his book. Willan decides to take the advice of Farlas and release him even though everone else thinks he is a spy.
C Modo is assigned to follow Kalskett. Kalskett's property is returned to him including his spell book and ring. He shuffles off looking very crestfallen and returns to his tent. Modo waits outside for a couple of hours until he is sure that the total lack of movement is indicative of an absence of inhabitant. Modo checks the tent, finds it totally empty and goes back to report that Kalskett has left the tent without leaving the tent.
D Hoho's research has turned up some evidence of druidic activity in the area but nothing significant.
D Ranger Willan and his bosom buddy Farlas go out to see if he can find signs of druids in the woods. They find evidence of the hand of druidism but nothing that looks current or significant.
D There is still no sign of anyone following Garreg.
A The slimey monster group search north on both banks of the river but find nothing
B Farlas follows the last two boats departing Goltorn, to Hortel End
A The group searching the river search north on both banks of the river but find nothing.
B The last few visitors to the games, apart from the seriously injured, depart. As usual they go by boat. There are two boats. Farlas decides to follow them down to the first stop at Hortel End. Willan gifts each boat half a pig and a couple of bottles of rum, in the hope that the alcohol may loosen their tongues. A vain hope.
B Farlas tries to earwig some conversations in the town. He selects a group of three that seem to be keeping apart from the rest. Farlas realises than one of the group has been sent in to the town. Farlas follows him to an inn in the town where he meets two other men. The conversation suggests that these people are also investigating something. Farlas follows the guy that goes back to the boat. The boss tells the guy that it was lucky that they got him out in time as he would have been spotted by the census. The boss, Katul Mac Skioss, does not know where it is.
B Farlas continues following the boat to the next stop where the guys book in to an inn. Nothing of significance appears to be happening so Farlas sets off on the return journey to Hortel End. Shortly after dark Farlas is attacked by a large scaly creature with claws and teeth. He does not know it, but it's a water troll. Farlas just fends it off until he can run away.
B When he gets into Hortel End he makes it known that it was lucky for the village that he was around as he has seen off a viscous monster that he had been tracking for hours. Farlas later claims that this was to set up a plausible cover story. The Mayor invites him to stay at has shack and Farlas is able to get a good nights sleep.
A Farlas and the slimey monster group drift back to Willan's pad
B Willan sends an army to bring in two of the Giana suspects, Brutzch averts an incident
C The two guys are questioned
D Woden makes contact with some local druids
E Ralpare is still healing slowly
A In Hortel End, about five miles form Wilan's pad, Farlas arranges for a message to be sent to Willan then leaves town then turns invisible and comes back to check out the two guys. They don't say anything of any note.
A The group at the river search some of the woods and find some tracks from three or four days ago, stop and have lunch in Willan's hunting lodge and then head back to Willans pad.
A Farlas decides to return to Goltorn and arrives a few hours after the message. This reminds Willan that he should have read it! After a bit of discussion it is decided to ask the two men in Hortel End to come in for questioning, if they decline they will be arrested.
B Willan dispatches six men to Hortel End and a few Party members, Farlas, Brutzch, Herra, Modo, Taran and Willan, will sidle down to make sure the operation goes smoothly. The group set off en masse for Hortel End. Farlas confirms that they are in the Pub. Pople take up positions and the six men go in to town. In the Inn Herra tells Brutzch that the soldiers took a bit nervous so he approaches them and stands the sodiers down and asks the two men to come in for questioning. The odds are stacked against the two guys so they grudgingly agree to come. They get their gear and are taken back to Goltorn.
B As it went okay, Taran and Willan speed back to Willan's house to make it look as they have been there all the time.
C When the two are brought in for questioning Modo mentions to Willan that one of the two was following Garreg. Willan, Farlas and Isiil Oômé question them one at a time. The guys are made to take an oath that they will tell the truth. They come from Chaltim Beryl. The first guy says that he has not been involved with following anyone since he has been in the area. He says that they are involved with following up some of Katul's merchant contacts. He does not know that the other guy left town to avoid the census. Farlas and Isiil Oômé have a pointed conversation about lying to the lord before removing the first guy to a secure place.
C The second guy is more beligerent and admits to nothing, the generalities of his cover story are consistent with the first guy. He denies that Katul said it was lucky that he was got out of town before the census. As questioning is going slowly and the second guy in particular is clearly lying they are both locked up to ponder their situation.
C Garreg is informed of the arrests. He is taken to see each of the captives who both claim that they did not follow him. Modo takes them some food and lets them know that we have witnesses that they were following Garreg. They do not seem impressed.
D Woden makes contact with some local druids. He exchnges some information, Anton was a druid (a strange chap who chose to spend much of his time in town) he has a brother called Dellon who will need to be looked after as he cannot take care of himself. The druids will let Woden know if they find anything out. Woden is invited to the druidic ceremony at the full moon.
E Ralpare is still healing slowly.
A Ant 'n' Del
B Prisoner A 'n' Prisoner B
C Most of the remaining Party members are making plans to leave Goltorn
D Guerin, Lejak and Sharrel arrive in Creanlan and ask after Giana
E Isiil Oômé leaves for Illonsor
A In response to messengers to the villages it is established that Anton and Dellon lived in Temnel on the river Tem the next village up the river Tem from Goltorn in Taran's lands. Taran, Brutzch and Woden go to Temnel and find out that Anton and Dellon did not have a house in town as they were both druids. Dellon had lodgings in the village because of his illness. The landlady has not seen either of them for two week or more, although this is not unusual. She is aware that Anton has died, Dellon had some sort of wasting disease.
A Taran has a look through the possessions of Anton and Dellon that were left in the lodgings. Surprisingly he finds a couple of crude paintings on wood of a lady dressed in white. The paintings are not the same pose.
B The two incarcerated guys are still not inclined to talk. Garreg is asked if there is anything he wants to ask the captives. He doubts that there is anything that he could ask that would produce more information than he already has and implies that he might have questioned them a bit more forcefully.
C Hoho makes it known that he will be returning to Salsorme in the next day or two.
D Guerin, Lejak and Sharrel arrive in Creanlan and ask after Giana. After a rebutal in the street Sharrel goes to see local noble. He is able to find someone who confirms he story that Garreg put forward.
D Lejak finds out that Giana left through the north gate on horseback with a man.
D Guerin and Lejak find the stables where the horses were shacked up and find out that a man answering the description of Garreg was asking after them. The stable person says that he did not tell him much as he did not like him. The horses were dropped off and picked up on the same day. A general description of the man is obtained.
E Isiil Oômé left for Ilonsor.
A Guerin, Lejak and Sharrel try to retrace the journey of Giana to Goltorn
B -Taran and Woden can find no signs of recent druidic activity in the woods outside Temnel
C New tactics are attempted to get information from the prisoners, with some success
D Jarrys finally recognises the code in Rustbulj's message
A Guerin, Lejak and Sharrel try to retrace the journey of Giana and the man. At the end of the day they have not found anywhere where they stayed.
B Firking around the woods outside Temnel, Taran and Woden can find no signs of recent druidic activity. Although the storm felled tree from which the wood that the paintings were made is identified.
C The two prisoners are put together. Guards and Modo and Herra are set and it is hoped to earwig as much of their discussions as possible.
C At the end of his shift Modo is able to report that the two prisoners are both in on it and that they think that Wilan knows nothing and if they stick it out they will get away with it. Anton's name is mentioned but Modo did not catch what they said. Herra cannot add anything on his shift. Late in the day Willan gives them a last chance to say what they know before he goes away for a month but they still will not speak.
D A message to Rustbulj is being penned when Jarrys realises the coded message from Rustbulj reads "Marius and R here April". A rider is sent to catch up with Isiil Oômé.
A The Party disperse from Goltorn, some with great haste to Salsorme
B Woden takes over the investigation of Anton's death, including charge of the prisoners
C Woden soon has things sorted
D Guerin, Lejak and Sharrel continue to retrace the journey of Giana to Goltorn
E Isiil Oômé is to rendezvous at Hassop
A Hoho, Varsity and his bodyguard, Modo, Calhassan, Grayam, Herra, Gunnar, Jarrys, Ralpare, Gonjon and Belthazar set off for Salsorme by boat.
A Farlas, Nalin, Taran, Karrak and Willan speed off on horse and pony back.
A Bazron is going to Pelek.
B Woden takes over the investigation of Anton's death, including charge of the prisoners.
C Woden soon has things sorted.
D Towards the end of the day Gurein, Lejak and Sharrel find a village where Giana and her horse stayed. She was by herself. A man came by about a day later asking questions about her. He fits the description of Garreg.
E Late in the day the message to meet Farlas, Willan and Nalin at Hassop on the Tisinsol border at noon on 11 April with a horse and supplies for a long journey arrives with Isiil Oômé.
A Isiil Oômé reports that it looks as if Nylas is back under the influence of Tusula!
B Guerin, Lejak and Sharrel continue to retrace the journey of Giana to Goltorn
A Isiil Oômé and H'Spir Salit set off to the meeting at Hassop. Isiil Oômé has bad news, Nylas, who had been installed as Isiil Oômé's castellan, has bogged off two days ago with some money and an enhanced battle axe which do not belong to him, he also had a small wooden shield (the Ansachat) which no one had noticed before - perhaps because he did not have it.
A It looks as if Nylas is back under the influence of Tusula. The group break like the wind for Salsorme.
B Guerin, Lejak and Sharrel try to retrace the journey of Giana and the man. At the end of the day they have not found anywhere where they stayed.
A Guerin, Lejak and Sharrel continue to retrace the journey of Giana to Goltorn
A At about midday Gurein, Lejak and Sharrel find a village where Giana and her horse stayed. She was by herself. A man came by about a day later asking questions about her. He fits the description of Garreg.
A Farlas, Willan, Nalin, Isiil Oômé, H'Spir Salit and Taran arrive in Salsorme and go to see Rustbulj
A Farlas, Willan, Nalin, Isiil Oômé, H'Spir Salit and Taran arrive in Salsorme. It is decided to keep everyone together and cram into Questors. A visit is made to appraise Rustbulj of their arrival. Rustbulj is relieved to see them and wonder why they took so long to come. Rustbulj says that Rallink has arrived but that he is still waiting for Marius Tellman.
A Woden commits the murderer of Anton to trial by Druid
A Guerin, Lejak and Sharrel arrive back late in the afternoon to discover that Woden has had the two prisoners formerly charged with being accessories to the murder of Anton. He charges the one who did not follow Garreg first. He immediately breaks down and blames the other one. Woden gets him a chair and asks him to go through the full story.
A He is told that when they came to Goltorn, on the last day of the games, Kattel told them to find a woman with a painting that he wanted. They discovered that she had been killed so the made investigations to find out where the painting was. They followed Garreg because they had been told that he was in on it, they were able to establish that he did not have it. The other guy was nominally in charge of the four. Anton said that he had connections and knew where to get the painting but he wanted lots of money for it. Anton was meant to get the painting for them but he came back and said that Garreg had offerered more money for the painting. Kattel did not believe that Anton knew where the painting was and instructed the other guy to put some pressure on. The other guy overdid it and Anton was accidentally killed. The other guy got rid of the body with on of the other guys who both then left town. This guy stayed in Goltorn to see if he could come up with any new leads. Kattel has gone back to Chaltym Beryl.
A Woden thanks the guy for his co-operation and sends him back to his cell for a meal and a wash.
A Woden has the second guy brought up and charges him with murder. The guy pleads not guilty saying that Woden has nothing on him. Woden recounts the story of the first guy. The second guy loudly protests his innocence, without elaboration.
A Woden finds his druid contact, Gramass, and tells him that he has found the murderer of Anton and he has a witness. Woden suggests a druidic court, Gramass thinks this is a splendid idea and agrees to put it to the druids.
A The druidic court is set for tomorrow
B Dellon is found
C The story of the painting of "The White Lady" by Abyll
A Gramass quickly comes back to Woden to say that itwould be auspicious to hold the druidic court tomorrow. Woden says that as Willan has put him in charge of prosecuting this case it would be sensible to go ahead.
B Garreg comes to Woden to say that he thinks that he has traced Dellon to the butchers residence. Woden checks the census which shows only the butcher at that address. Woden arranges some guards and goes with Sharrel, Guerin, Lejak and Brutzch to check out the lead.
B Woden thumps on the door and demands that it be opened in the name of Willan. Woden says that he understands that the butcher has a sick druid on the premises. The butcher looked deflated and says that he is in the back. Woden checks the back roomand finds Dellon in a bad way on a bed. Even the butcher does not know what ails him. Dellon has been at the butchers for about two and a half weeks. The butcher says that Anton made him promise not to tell us. The butcher says that Anton was a good friend.
B Dellon clearly does not want to be moved so Woden goes over and introduces himself. Woden tells Dellon what he knows about the death of Anton and says that he needs to ask some questions about Giana. Woden tries to assess Dellon's contition but he wheezes "only the White Lady can save me now". The painting was by Abyll
C A druid named Abyll who lived in Valen had a vision of Rhechtaryl (a famous druidic woman) during a virulent diseases - the same thing that Dellon has. In the vision he was to paint her picture with his infected blood. The picure was blessed and supposedly has the power to cure the sick. The merchant in Paranis has a very sick daughter. Anton knew that Hengar was selling the painting to find out who bought it. Anton persuaded Giana to bring the painting up to cure Dellon before delivering it to Paranis. Anton thought that Giana was not going to go through with the deal and panicked and killed her. Dellon does not know how Anton was killed or what has happened to the painting since Anton got it. Dellon thinks that it is unlikely that Anton would have given the painting to anyone else.
C Speculaton turns to the whereabouts of the painting. It is decided that the druids are probably going to try to cure Dellon at the ceremony on the eighteenth. However the butcher thinks that the druids will not help Dellon. The butcher implies that the druids would not be well disposed to the use of the painting in this case. Anton and Dellon deliberately did not seek the aid of the other druids for this escapade.
B Woden tells Garreg that Dellon is at the butchers and he is near to death and not to be moved. Woden assures Garreg toat Dellon does not have the painting or know where it is. Woden tells Garreg that Dellon thinks that Anton killed Giana.
A The guilty man is tried by the druidic court
B Ub approaches the Wailward of the Saluref, who happens to be Willan, about his land case
A Woden informs the second guy of his guilt. He hystercally proclaims his inocence as he is led into the woods to a grove where the druidic court is waiting. The senior druid asks Woden to recount the whole story.
A The prisoner is ceremonially passed to the control of the druidic court. He is stood in the middle of the circle of druids. The senior druid chants "A druid took a life, a druidic life is taken, the balance is restored." The druids walk away. Woden catches up with the senior druid and asks him about the White Lady. The senior druid recounds what is essentially a speech to Wode. He says that he understands that Woden is new to the area but this heretical belief in the power of a painting is a danger to the brotherhood and it is as well that it is lost. Dellon is seriously misguided in his belief, Dellon does not wish for the help of the druids and they do not wish to give it.
A On his return to Goltorn Woden tells Garreg that the paining is not held or valued by the local druids. Woden sugests that if it came in to their possession they would be likely to destroy it. Woden gives the first prisoner his possessions and some food and puts him on a boat and suggests that he does not ever return to Goltorn. [For the record, it was the other prisoner who killed Anton, but he's an unscrupulous lying bastard so he got away with it - Ed]
B In Salsorme, Ub reminds Willan about his promise to look into his claim for pelmennon over the estate of Terelhonen, Revdolin, Sordiran and Tamfornar. The land court (Court of Ault) is where this dispute will be heard. Willan is the Wailward (Wallwarden) of the Salurtef, which means that he has administrative responsibilities (and staff) for land allocation within Salsorme. Willan does have influence in this court. Cases usually take a few months to resolve.
A Finding out stuff in Salsorme
B A deal is struck with Mercselm
A Nalin goes to see the resting place of Maurice.
A Hoho arranges interviews with Party members to discuss their experiences.
B Isiil Oômé suggests that would be reasonable to ask the Wizard for assistance in finding and obtaining the return of Party members stuck on the planes of the Ansachat as well as getting some more info on other mystery items
A Gilla and Rallink are asked about the big Farah shield, the wooden headband and dagger. Other than pointing out that the wooden items are druidic and the knife will almost certainly be used for something pointy, they have little to say.
B Farlas, Hoho and Isiil Oômé go to see Mercselm. Only Farlas is allowed beyond the anteroom. Farlas shows the wooden goblet and headband to the Wizard and mentions the ring. He explains how they were found, the Wizard thinks that they work independently. After discussion, it is the opinion of the Wizard that there is insufficient information to have any chance of locating anyone on another plane. He declines the request for access to his library on the grounds that it is too specialised, but agrees to research the goblet and headband and enchant Isiil Oômé's chain armour in returned for the wooden dagger, no questions asked.
A Revalations about "The Five" (Not really, 'coz we knew all along!)
B -and Carioc's poem
C Willan meets Marius Tellman
D Arrangements for the destruction of the Orb of Torlich
A The potential journey to Azilhar is mentioned to Rustbulj. He is sure that he knows the name Na'hamam Nyea from somewhere.
A Marius Tellman arrives in Salsorme. Almost as soon as he gets together with Gilla and Rallink and the Azilhar trip is mentioned they realise that Na'hamam Nyea is actually Naham Merch (the word in the band of the Anachat hat!) meaning "Moon Heart". He is one of the Five. The others are Zarl Kruger (killed 1100 years ago) , Bael (defeated 1150 years ago), Chor Fel, Neslam (father of Norgraze). When one of the Five is killed another takes their place. Is Trosahn one of the Five?
Calhassan suggests that each of the Ansachat - Hat, Sheild, Skull, Belt, Bracelet, probably relates to one of the Five.
A The Party do some thinking that should have been done years ago!
FIVE | SYMBOL | ANSACHAT | COLOUR | PLACE | OTHERS |
Bael | Circle | Bracelet | Black | Torlich (Orb) | Red Staff |
Zarl Kruger | Line | Belt | Silver | Gran Fordir? | Red Eye |
Chor Fel | Pentagle | Shield | Green | Red Sword, Red Circlet,Stone Knife
NahamMerch | Diamond | Helmet/Hat | Gold | Red Moon (on chest)
Neslam | Triangle (?) | Skull | Red |
B Willan recalls the poem delivered by Carioc, Farlas realises that it should be seven lines of seven words:
Five awake the land rises with them
Deeps curse grows webbed led walkers fall
dreamer leads the flyer to the swimmer
hunted hunter brings Tarsober back to tower
lost recovered death rises fells and rests
Nine armies battle five victorious five defeated
writing on wall and ground snakes Key key
C Willan, wielder of Tarsober, has never met Marius Tellman (in common with most of the Party), so this is put to rights.
D Marius, Gilla and Rallink anounce that they will need a few days to prepare the ceremony. They are going to use five people and try to turn the power of the Orb against itself. They need two volunteers to make up the five. The volunteers may be affected by the intensity of the experience.
D Farlas, Willan, Nalin, Isiil Oômé and Taran all volunteer. Ralpere turns down the opportunity due to his inexperience and his ongoing recovery. Discussions on who should do it range over those who may end up as sword wielders (Willan and Ralpere?) or those who have experienced metamorphosis and need to establish their identity (Taran Er Anendil and Isiil Oômé). Nalin has a sound case based on his possession of the Orb since we captured it.
D Ralpere goes to see Rallink to ask for guidence. Rallink thinks that it would be an act of attonement and has no objection to Ralpere's presence at the ceremony. Ralpere volunteers. It is decided to call an enclave of the three senior clerics within the Party. These are Calhassan (Farah), H'Spir Salit (Essini) and Jarrys (Christian).
D After a couple of hours Calhassan emerges and announces that the clerics consider that Willan and Ralpere should be the two who go forward and that they should wield Tarsober and Mengros at the ceremony.
D Gilla, Marius and Rallink have decided that the ceremony should be at a nutral venue so they are going to do it at Questors! The building is to be emptied and searched. Abubaca refuses to allow anyone in the alchemy lab. But promises that he will leave and ensure that the lab. is empty.
A The Orb of Torlich is toast
B The return of Lucius
C Ub's claim to Terelhonen progresses
D Worrying evidence that the "land is rising" [So "the five awake"! - Ed]
A Many Party members patrol the perimater of Questors as the ceremony to destroy the Orb takes place. Farlas, Taran, Herra, Cherch, Baccus (and a bunch of hulons), Nalin, Guerin, Pansal, Horan, Whenslidayle, Grayam and Hoho's bodyguard are patroling, guarding or organising. Whilst Angelica, Meskrin, Karrak, Gonjon, Belthazar, Fabius, Lejak, Ub, Dran, Sharell, Isiil Oômé, H'Spir Salit, Jarrys, Calhassan and Abubaca are stationed at various local hostelries giving moral support. Rez is alternating between the two functions.
A Ralpere appears from inside, he is very happy, and asks for Farlas and Nalin. They enter Questors to see the ghostly figure of Lucius, and the Orb in three pieces. Gilla, Marius and Rallink are knackered. Farlas speaks to the ghost of Lucius, he says that he is nearly here. Farlas asks if there is anything we can do to bring him back, should we bring him back. He didn't walk the path correctly.
B Willan and Ralpere look very sprightly, Ralpere's arm seems better. Everyone starts congratulating everyone else, things have gone well. Ralpere is now installed as the wielder of Mengros. Ralpere and Willan have received a "Wish". Ralpere has already wished to be a worthy sword wielder. Willan is still considering what to with his. In the end he wished that "Lucius was back" - possibly not the best choice of words but luckily it appears that Lucius was treading the path "back" so he shimmers and is corporeal again. Lucius looks much older
C Willans staff think that Ub has a very solid claim to Terelhonen and the objections are just technicalities used to stall the process of Ub taking over. Willan takes steps and reports back to Ub that he has speeded things up and he should be expecting a decision in a month or so.
D Research of the coastline connected with the whereabouts of coastal Gran Fordir reveal that the coast has been encroaching for centuries however in the past year, boats have been running aground in areas that were previously clear water. This sugests that the places are under water, but perhaps not for much longer.
A Nalin speaks to Marius and Isiil Oômé sees Rallink
B A group is formed to investigate the Hramin connection in Azilhar
C Ralpere gets in to the groove with Mengros
A Nalin has a word with Marius. He finds out that Balman and some druids have been fighting for Connel. There are signs of the pentagram reappearing around Kirk but Marius considers that the locals can handle it. Isiil Oômé sees Rallink.
B Lucius, Ralpere, Fabius, Willan, Herra, Guerin, Pansol, Taran, Abubaca and Rezaharaamam are going to investigate the odd Hramin cult in Azilhar.
C The pieces of the Orb are taken to each of the three temples and smashed by Ralpere using the flat of Mengros. Ralpere uses the sword effortlessly, almost like it is part of him. He is also able to use the shield although he is going to need training to use the shield properly.
